RAISING money for a worthy cause can be as easy as playing a round of golf.

Next month, the inaugural Par 3 event will be hosted at Buninyong Golf Club to raise money for The Ballarat Foundation.

The foundation provides support for groups and individuals who need support in the community.

Foundation chairman James Coghlan said he was confident the event would prove popular with golfers looking for a fun game.

"It's an event we see as a great opportunity to have a good fun day and raise funds for the foundation," he said.

"Importantly we are also introducing the foundation to people who aren't so much aware of what it is that we do."

Participants will have an opportunity to win prizes at each hole for longest drive
and best par.

Mr Coghlan said the organisation was working hard to build a large financial base so interest earned could be distributed.

"Team golfers usually love corporate days like this because they are good fun and there is good camaraderie," he said.

The Par 3 Event will be held on Sunday, October 19. For information about playing or sponsorship phone 5341 3217.
