The Federation University Run for a Cause brings together schools, businesses and community groups to participate in the McGrath 10km run, the Showbiz Cinemas 5km run or walk, or as part of the Y Kids' Dash. Join us on Sunday 20th November for a great family day.
The Federation University Run for a Cause is the largest community fun run and walking event in the Ballarat area with all proceeds going directly to the Ballarat Christmas Appeal, proudly supported by 3BA 102.3FM. Genesis Health and Fitness are this years' Community Impact Partner.
Event Day Schedule
7:00am - Event village open
8.00am - McGrath 10km Run
9:00am - McGrath10km Run Presentation
9.40am - the Y Kids' Dash, approximately 1km.
10.00am - Showbiz Cinemas 5km Run/Walk
11:00am - the Y Kids' Dash, Showbiz Cinemas 5km Run/Walk and Final Presentation
Enter a Team
We invite all schools and workplaces to create a team and enter together. Prizes will be given to the largest workplace and school team, so get everyone on board and signed up!
To form a team, create a fundraising team as you register. Fundraising is not compulsory, however, this is how family, workplace and school teams need to be set up. Once the team is created, participants choose the correct team from the drop down box and are then added as a member of that team.
If you would like to enter a workplace and pay for employees to participate, please email info@ballaratfoundation.org.au and we can provide a code.

The Course Location
The course is once again set amongst the beautiful parklands of Victoria Park. Run or walk through the shady treelined roads within Ballarat's iconic park.
Please note, due to the rain and flooding at Victoria Park, the Event Village location has changed to Oak Ave, near the children's playground. Please see the map below.
Showbiz Cinemas 5km and McGrath 10km Route
Runners and walkers will start on Elm Ave and follow paths and roads within Victoria Park. The 10km route will repeat the 5km course twice, with a detour at Sturt St. A water station will be situated at around the 3km mark and water and fruit will be available at the finish line.
the Y Kids' Dash
The Kids' Dash is about a 1km course around the event village. One parent is permitted to run with a child.
Event T-Shirts
Run for a Cause t-shirts are available to purchase at bib pick up and on the day of the event. T-Shirts are $35 each and range from a XS - XL. Made from a light weight, sweat wicking fabric, these t-shirts are stylish and designed to keep you cool and dry as you run.

Registrations:
Please note there are absolutely no on the day registrations. Registrations close on Saturday 19th November at 9:59pm.
Bib pick up
You must have your QR code to pick up your bib. This was sent to you in your registration email. Please have children's QR codes at the ready too.
We encourage participants to pick up their bib prior to the event to avoid the rush on the morning. See below for bib pick up times.
Thursday 17th & Friday 18th November:
10am - 4pm at the Ballarat Foundation Office, 7 Lydiard St South, Ballarat Central.
Saturday 19th November:
1pm - 4pm at the Event Village, Oak Avenue, Victoria Park
Event Village:
Enjoy the atmosphere and soak up the feel good vibes at the conclusion of your run or walk at the Event Village. Food trucks, coffee vans, music, children's activities, toilets and a bag-drop will all be available within the Event Village.
Parking:
Parking areas will be available on Gillies St and Sturt St and surrounding streets around Victoria Park. Please note: No parking is permitted within Victoria Park.
Medals and Prizes:
All participants will receive a medal and prizes will be given to winners in categories.

Volunteer at the Federation University Run for a Cause 2022
The Federation University Run for a Cause is a community event that relies on volunteers to ensure a well run and fun day. Volunteering at the event includes marshalling, giving out drinks or medals, taking photos, helping with registrations or directing runners and walkers. All volunteers will receive training on their role and receive a certificate of appreciation.

Course
The course is run entirely on sealed roads within Victoria Park and on the roads surrounding Victoria Park.
Can I enter on the day?
There are no registrations taken on the day. Please note that registrations close on Saturday 19th November at 10:00pm.
Is the event timed?
Yes, Tomato Timing will be conducting event timing on the day.
