Each year, more than 12% of the Ballarat population are forced to rely on accessing community meal and grocery relief programs in order to survive. The economic and social upheaval caused by the COVID 19 crisis of 2020 only exacerbated this need, causing a significant spike in demand for crisis support.
The Ballarat Foundation believes that each child, person or family should have continuous access to nutritious food. We direct funding to the areas of most need in the local community, as well as responding to need directly through programs created and delivered by our dedicated volunteers.
While there are many wonderful organisations fighting to rid our community of hunger, the issues of food insecurity continue to grow, and the resources required to win this battle grow accordingly. All funds raised during the Feed Ballarat Appeal are invested into the Feed Ballarat sub-fund and then distributed during our annual grants process.
