Ballarat Shows Generosity at Christmas

The Ballarat community did it again! The 2024 Ballarat Christmas Appeal was a huge success, with a total of $120,000 distributed to local organisations working with vulnerable families and individuals in Ballarat.

During November and December, local businesses, families and organisations came together to make Christmas brighter for those in need.

The Ballarat and Lucas Fire Stations came together and donated $2,500 and plus hundreds of toys and gifts. The Buninyong and Mt Helen Lions Club contributed $5,000, while the Brown Hill Lions Club added $2,000. Ballarat builders Smith and Sons went the extra mile, creating a $6,000 cubby house to raffle off and donated all proceeds to the appeal.

Gifts and toys were donated by kind-hearted people to ensure that all kids in Ballarat woke up on Christmas morning to a present. Once again 3BA 102.3FM pitched in and used Santa’s Sleigh to help pick up toys and donations from the various drop off points.

The appeal has been a Ballarat tradition for over 40 years, with the Ballarat Foundation taking over the Appeal in 2022. Despite the cost of living crisis, there was no shortage of donations this year. Every donation made during the appeal was a testament to the compassion and kindness of our community. The funds were distributed to four charities in Ballarat who support families at Christmas time - The Salvation Army, Uniting Ballarat, St Vincent de Paul, and Anglicare Ballarat.

Thank you to everyone who contributed, together we have achieved an amazing result. Here’s to spreading more joy in 2025!
