When Leo and Elaine Canny purchased the Red Lion Hotel in 1977, they had a very good understanding that they needed to be an integral part of their community to succeed.
Leo and Elaine had a clear vision that they wanted to be great employers and provide a quality experience for their customers. They saw that running a hotel came with a responsibility to serve the community as well. It was important for them both to contribute to the Ballarat community via fundraising, sponsorships and donations. Through their continual support of community groups and sports, Leo and Elaine earned great respect and fostered many wonderful relationships.
The Canny Family Fund has been an outstanding vehicle to continue the vision of Leo and Elaine.
