Run for a Cause

After careful consideration, the Ballarat Foundation will no longer hold the community running event, Run for a Cause. While this decision was difficult, we must ensure that we focus on activities that meet our core objectives.

The Ballarat Foundation aims to reduce disadvantage and inspire philanthropy in our community, so that we can address issues such as food and housing insecurity, mental health, and family violence.

As a community foundation, we are committed to providing help where it is most needed. Run for a Cause is an immense event for a small team and we must ensure our resources and funds are being used to create the greatest possible impact. The current economic climate makes this task even more difficult for fundraising events.

We will redirect efforts into building upon our other activities such as the Ballarat Women’s Fund, as well as continuing to support the Ballarat Christmas Appeal. We will continue to put all our efforts into creating a difference for our most vulnerable community members.

Run for a Cause began in 2018 with the course originally in Victoria Park. The event went virtual over the pandemic years and returned as a physical event in 2022. The final year was held in Lucas with runners and walkers going through the Arch of Victory.

We have shared many great moments with partners, supporters, volunteers and participants over the years. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported Run for a Cause.
