At the Ballarat Foundation, we know that when local businesses and their teams get behind community initiatives, lasting change happens. Through workplace giving, literacy programs, and education support, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of children and families across Ballarat. Explore our three flagship opportunities for corporate and employee giving.
How Workplace Giving Works
Workplace Giving allows employees to make regular, pre-tax contributions directly from their pay. Even small weekly donations add up to significant impact when pooled together across a team.
For example:
$5 a week provides more than 50 meals to people who might otherwise go without food.
$10 a week funds 10 additional Back to School vouchers for books and shoes.
$15 a week ensures four children under five receive a free book each month for a year.
Benefits for Businesses
Meet your corporate social responsibility goals.
Boost morale, encourage teamwork, and promote positive values.
Enhance your organisation’s reputation as a community-minded business.
Benefits for Employees

Inspiring a Love of Reading from Birth
The idea is simple — every child in Ballarat receives a free, age-appropriate book every month from birth until their fifth birthday. By the time they start school, children will already have a home library of 60 books and a love of reading to carry into their education.
Why Early Access to Books Matters
Research shows children who grow up surrounded by books are far more likely to succeed at school and beyond. Without early access to books, many children start school behind their peers and struggle to catch up.
How Your Support Helps Ballarat Children
The program is free for families, with costs covered by community fundraising through the Ballarat Foundation. It costs just $180 per child per year, only $15 a month, to ensure a child in our community receives a quality book in the mail every month.
Your support helps us make Ballarat a reading city where every child has the best chance to thrive.
Helping Local Students Succeed
Since 2005, the Ballarat Foundation has proudly partnered with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) to deliver Back to School vouchers to local families.
Partnering with FRRR to Support Families
Back to School is a national program that provides $50 digital gift vouchers to children and young people in need. Working through local organisations, these vouchers are distributed to families across the Ballarat region each year.
How Vouchers Make a Practical Difference
Vouchers can be redeemed at Target, Kmart or local retailers for essentials such as school uniforms, shoes, clothing, stationery, and school bags. These small but meaningful contributions help children feel ready and confident to learn.
Every year, more than 340 students in the Ballarat region benefit from the program. Contact us today at info@ballaratfoundation.org.au to learn more about you can support Back to School Vouchers.
The Ballarat Foundation acknowledges the Wadawurrung people, the traditional owners of the lands and waterways in our region.
